  1. But picked upwardly a nice HQ-120X this weekend, just a modest issue is that the Dials are starting to De-laminate and outset to sideslip when they hit tight spots on the chassis. Does any 1 know of a adept fashion of fixing this or someone that tin can make new reasonable priced replacements. The receive/standby switch has lost it'due south cease, or slowly no longer working proper, while not a large problem I would like to replace this if someone has a replacement from a parts radio.

  2. There are a number of Antiquarian Radio Receivers (1930s - 1950s) restorers and groups.
Your questions is non new -- here is identical question from a restoration project in 2007.

The dials in the HQ-129X, and HQ-140X are the same equally dials in the HQ-120X.
If all else fails, wait for a junker HQ-129X or HQ-140X. I don't know of whatever source for replacements other than a donor ready.

Although SOME have taken to graphics / artistic shops and had these scanned and and then reproduced .. depends of level and $ for your restoration.

The Western Historic Radio Museum has a website
    http://www.radioblvd.com/hammarlund_super_pro.htm

The Hammerlund HQ-120 was introduced in December, 1938. Hammarlund engineers succeeded in slashing the price past two thirds, while retaining most of the important features of the Super-Pro, and introducing others to brand the gear up even more "ham friendly."
The HQ-120-Ten designation appears in advertising from August 1939 forward. Originally, a low cost version without the crystal was offered.
All sets seem to be labeled simply HQ-120, and almost all take the crystal. "Street pricing" stabilized in pre-WW2 market at $129.

  3. The chief tuning dial on the HQ-120X is the same as the HQ-129X, HQ-140X, and HQ-150. However, the bandspread dial is non. It is the aforementioned as on the early HQ-129X receivers just not the later on HQ-129X, the HQ-140X, and HQ-150. The bandspread dials on the later receivers included calibration for the 15-meter ring whereas the earlier receivers did not accept the 15-meter band.

There are, at least were in the very recent past, a couple of people making replacement dials for the HQ-129X including both bandspread dials. I don't have the information on simply who was making these handy right now. However, I would postal service a query on the various "boat anchor" E-mail reflectors and on the Hammarlund Electronic mail reflector.

You might besides effort Electric Radio Magazine.

  4. When I added the 15M version on my 129X I put the original on the 120X and the same Ebay parts source (a parted out 129X) provided a nice GC punch. Its interesting that my WW2 RGB does non endure the warped punch problem and then Hammarlund must have realized the problem early on.
